Sixth form students participated in a workshop with Reg Payne to build the lanterns for this years Light Up Parade in Bodmin! Following previous years of themes of The Lion King and Stars, this year featured three ships - inspired by the Christmas carol "I Saw Three Ships (Come Sailing In)". By carefully following Reg's designs and measurements, the sixth formers built a Chinese Junk and a Sailing Boat to go with a large Pirate ship that was previously built. They were constructed with bamboo and withies for the main body and covered with white tissue paper once the lights were fitted inside. Here are some photographs of the build and progress:

Screen Printing Workshop: Tote BagsPenrice Academy joined us for a taster day last week at Bodmin College. We had two groups of art students take part in our screen printing workshop ran by the art staff and two of our experienced Art Ambassadors, Daisy and Gabriel. The students quickly had to come up with their own pattern design to draw straight onto an empty screen with oil pastels. The design then acted as a barrier for the ink when used for printing, leaving the pattern on the tote bags in a colour of their choice. The students then printed a second design on top of their pattern - we used the portraits of various celebrities (including Taylor Swift, Adele, Ariana Grande, Emma Watson, Benedict Cumberbatch and Manny MUA) created by our talented year 9's to feature on the bags. We hope the students had as much fun as we did, and hope to see some of you again soon! Here are some pictures of us making a mess in the print room... |
